Newsweek IS Still Right and Oops! The U.S.A. Does It (Abuse/Violations) Again

Yesterday Neptune, the planet which governs (among other things) lies, delusions, deceptions, cover-ups, veils and those infamous rose-colored glasses, stationed and went retrograde. It has been slowing down for the last few weeks in preparation for this retrograde part of its journey. Now that which was covered up and lied about can come to light because it is going to be reviewed. Things done in the dark are going to come to light. But also, there will be some more thing which come to light when the bubble bursts at Neptune’s direct station on October 26, 2005. Neptune is in Aquarius, a sign of technology, electronic media, the Internet, humanitarianism, and in some ways, the search for Truth.

Saturn the Teacher is calling for what is right as it transits through the end of Cancer. Saturn is not strong in the sign of Cancer; it is in astrology referred to as being in detriment or “fall”. Thus instead of being strong, confident and steadfast, the global theme of Saturn is focused on insecurity and the perceived need to defend oneself against anything that it feels could be a threat. Under Saturn in Cancer, where it has been since 2003, we have seen such gross protectionism, isolationism and abuse of the freedom of others in the name of security that it is astounding and deeply sad. Under Cancer President George W. Bush (born during the trauma of World War II), the U.S.A.’s windows and doors were nailed shut and a fort built around it. However, it has not made many U.S. citizens fearful of the world; rather it is like an alcoholic (even if “dry”) and abusive father locking the family inside the house, boarding up the windows and creating new and increasingly more cruel daily rues to live by. He tells them it is for their own good and assures them that although he can come and go freely, they may not. Any disagreement brings the very real threat of punishment, gagging and being thrown in the dark closet where no one can hear you. How dare you disbelieve the “reality” of The Homeland.

Cancer governs among other things, the mother and the child, home and insecurity (visualize the insecure Crab hiding in its shell to protect itself) and during this time we have seen the United States of America be turned into a “Homeland”. How many times people have said it echoes Nazi Germany’s “The Fatherland”. Well now “The Motherland” has been established by a man riddled with fear.

Frighteningly, Saturn has transited Cancer in World War I, World War II, The Vietnam War and now The Iraq War.

Who suffers the most and has to clean up after these wars initiated by fearful men? Women and children. They are the ones who deal with the rising fuel prices or forced fuel consumption, food rations and high-priced food, lack of employment, lack of a spouse or parent because of the war and a collective psychic pain that sets up a deep river of insecurity.

Now today, with the publishing of photographs of Saddam Hussein in his jail cell in his underwear George W. Bush claims it may be a violation of the Geneva Convention. He pulled the U.S.A. out of the Geneva Convention. He flipped it and the United Nations the bird and told it that the U.S.A. will not abide by it under his Bush Doctrine. Under that guidance, the U.S. has been torturing prisoners in Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay and using a policy of “rendition” to send people to other countries to be tortured so the U.S.A. can look like it has its hands clean.

Pontius Pilate washed his hands and he was still covered in the blood of Jesus of Nazareth.

As is pointed out in the New Yorker article, George Bush once said “torture is never acceptable, nor do we hand over people to countries that do torture.” A lie. A sad lie.

Well anyway…walking through this today I reflected on the fact that the Newsweek story about the Koran/Quran being flushed down the toilet was TRUE and reported many times over for the last few years. I hope Newsweek never backs down to the Bush Administration or any administration again. I hope it will be the free press it is supposed to be. As I said earlier, Newsweek cannot be FCCed. The government is free to FCC itself, but the press must continue reporting…..it is one of the checks and balances of power.

In that vein, here are some references where the Koran/Quran toilet-flushing and other abuses were reported.

Hunger strike over abusive treatment and violations of the Geneva Convention by the by the U.S.

(Here is an excerpt in which the toilet incident was reported in the Washington Post in a 2003 interview with a former detainee from Afghanistan: )

"Ehsannullah, 29, said American soldiers who initially questioned him in Kandahar before shipping him to Guantanamo hit him and taunted him by dumping the Koran in a toilet. ‘It was a very bad situation for us,’ said Ehsannullah, who comes from the home region of the Taliban leader, Mohammad Omar. ‘We cried so much and shouted, Please do not do that to the Holy Koran.’ (Marc Kaufman and April Witt, "Out of Legal Limbo, Some Tell of Mistreatment," Washington Post, Mar. 26, 2003.)

And today it is revealed the Red Cross warned the U.S. about the U.S. military abusing the Koran/Quran to try to torture prisoners:

Is the next tactic going to be to call the Red Cross a liar, demand a retraction and that it go on a global tour announcing what a morally upright country the U.S.A. is??

A group of friends and I were having lunch recently. One brought her young daughter with her and she sat next to me. We were discussing Bush. She pulled on my arm and started to talk. I think that children are such a blessing to this world, their insights need to be heard and their voices encouraged. I turned to her to hear what she had to say. Her big blue watery eyes were as big as saucers and she said, “He’s a bad man. He’s not a nice man. He hurts.” I thought I would break into tears. I hugged her and said “I know honey. I know.” This is the world into which this child has entered.

Saturn moves into Leo this summer (July 16, 2005). That means it finishes its run through George Bush’s 12th house (the significant ending of a cycle) and then arrives on his Ascendant and into his first house (the ego, identity). Will George be forced by circumstances to tone it down for the final three years of his regime under Saturn in Leo? Will his ego get slapped down in the spotlight? What will he do when that happens? I do not think it will be pretty. Saturn will be in Virgo in the last few months of his reign.

I’ll think about that later…..I need to find some fresh air.
