Getting All Up In That: Venus in Scorpio

Money is coming in….money is going out. Hot men and sexy women are popping up all over the place and instant attractions are popping up like toast. For the love of money – what is happening?!

It is Venus in Scorpio.

Venus entered Scorpio on September 8 where it will remain for an extended period of time because of a retrograde phase. This means the planet of love will transit Scorpio until January 7, 2011, when it moves on to Sagittarius.  Venus usually spends three weeks to a month in a sign. This time the retrograde will take it back to the last degrees of Libra before it stations direct and moves forward again into Scorpio) will affect everyone, no matter the zodiac sign under which you were born.

The sign of the Scorpion is the zodiac sign that rules firm emotions, loyalty and commitment. When a planet moves into Scorpio, the things we love become more significant and we all get a little more passionate and possessive about them (read: “obsessive”). In the Scorpion's pincers, nothing bends and rigidity becomes the norm.

Venus is the planet of feminine attraction. Our perceptions of beauty are influenced by the planet of love. Under this planetary movement, the issue I am hearing about most is money. One woman recently said she made about $100 in a neighborhood yard sale, then just as quickly was forced to unexpectedly spend all but about $5 of it. There are many people finding themselves coming into sums of money and then losing or being forced to spend it just as quickly if they are not careful.

The house Venus in Scorpio is transiting (and perhaps also the opposite house) is where you will find yourself spending money. For example, one woman I know is experiencing it through her 4^th house, which covers the home. During this transit she reports feeling a strong compulsion to spend a lot of money to install new laminate flooring in her apartment and buy new furniture. She unexpectedly received a small sum of money and when she came home that same day, all the lightbulbs in her apartment burned out and she had to spend the money buying new ones the next day. Money comes in, money goes out.
