Mercury Retrograde: January 28 - February 18

Mercury the planet of details, transportation, trips, and communication, appears to stop on Monday January 28 at 24 degrees Aquarius. The planet then appears to move backwards through the constellation of Aquarius, stopping again on February 18 at 8 degrees Aquarius and appearing to resume its direct motion.

The Meaning
A retrograde planet is generally considered more introverted than when it is in the normal direct motion mode. Classic astronomers and astrologers deem Mercury retrograde to be a time of difficulty in Mercurial endeavors like transportation/travel, situations requiring use of detail, and communication.

Mercury retrograde is also a good time to complete projects and finalize (write, sign) contracts whose details have already been determined, to reconnect with people from the past, to have mechanical and electronic repairs done, to conduct reviews, and to do personal reflection. Be sure to pay great attention to the signing of newly formed contracts and the start of new projects, or use this time to review the details and then sign them when the retrograde has ended – so wait until February 20 in this case.

Mercury retrograde occurs three times per year, spending a bit more than three weeks in "reverse" each time. The retrograde cycle appears as such because we see the planets from the perspective of a moving stage, specifically, the Earth. The planets, in fact, do not change direction. This geocentric, or earth-centered, point of view is the basis for astrological measurements.

In 2008, the retrograde will all be in Air signs – Aquarius, Gemini and Libra.

Some good advice to get you through the retrograde is
  • Take the time to be introspective.
  • Pay attention to how you gather information and communicate.
  • Be open to new awareness and effectiveness at work, home and play.
  • Look at the details in your life more carefully.

Who is Affected?

The retrograde affects us all to some degree. People born with Sun or other strong placements in Gemini or Virgo (the two Mercury-ruled signs) in their charts are more attuned to this astrological phenomenon. About 15 percent of the world’s population is born during a Mercury retrograde period. Empirical data shows that many of these people excel during Mercury retrogrades, but some struggle more than usual. Each case is unique.

For this current retrograde, individuals with planets close to 8 and 24 degrees of Aquarius are more likely to notice the current Mercury retrograde. Also, because we all have these degrees somewhere in our charts, the house(s) where these fall will likely reveal areas of life in which transportation/travel and communication issues are most likely to arise during the retrograde.

The Length?
The retrograde is felt most strongly during the backward phase, which in this case is January 28 through February 18. There is a “shadow” period two weeks before and two weeks after the retrograde that has a lighter influence: the front shadow is from January 13 when Mercury arrived at 8 Aquarius until the backwards phase begins on January 28 and the back shadow is from January 18 until March 10 when Mercury returns to on February 18, the last day of the retrograde, and ends on March 10, when Mercury returns to 24 Aquarius, where the retrograde began. Issues begun, or decisions made during the front shadow and retrograde may not be able to come to fruition or conclusion until March 10. Sometimes this can work in your favor: for example, if a legal decision is made between January 13 and February 18, it is highly likely to reverse and be made in your favor by March 10 (since I cannot give you a guarantee, I will not, but I will say I am 99% sure).

If you want to view the retrograde as one period, then it is January 13, 2008 through March 10, 2008.

Full Moon in Leo - January 22, 2008

This Full Moon in Leo is about becoming aware of our own power. It is also about releasing into the universe the energy we have been working on since the New Moon in Capricorn on January 8.

The Full Moon occurs at 2 degrees Leo at 5:35am PST.

There are several astrological aspects working together to bring a variety of energies to this day. Venus (sexuality) and Pluto (transformation and power) are conjunct in Sagittarius, calling us to combine faith intensity and faith to bring our dreams to fruition. The North Node in Pisces symbolizes the need to stop fantasizing and bring real change into our lives by acting on this intensity and faith.

Saturn retrograde in Virgo and Mars retrograde in Gemini lend some grounding to this intense energy, giving us the ability to think through some of the details of our plans and not only act on emotions.

This Full Moon effect will be in place January 22, January 23 and much more weakly, January 24. Take advantage of it on January 22 and 23, if you want to see the strongest and most favorable effects in your life. Make that telephone call, arrange that meeting, have that dinner or conversation, get out that novel-in-progress, script or painting.

While tonight can bring out a bit of selfishness and vanity, it is also a night for romance. It is a night for making love, pampering yourself, sharing fun times with friends in a social setting and letting our deepest desires come to fruition with someone we have had in our heart for some time. Some people with Sun in Leo, Leo Rising, Sun in Aquarius or Aquarius Rising, may find themselves involved in a strong flirtation this evening. Alternately, these same people could find themselves resisting intimate connection with another person due to arrogance, pride, vanity, fear or lack of courage. Sometimes, for example, Aquarians enjoy testing others by playing games involving being aloof, distant and just out of reach. The goal is actually very leonine: to get the other person to shower them with attention out of unbridled passion brought on by being teased so long. A word to the wise: sometimes it backfires and the other person gives up on you and walks away to seek a more straight-forward relationship.

It can also be a day and night of creativity where writer’s block, and other forms of inertia are set free. If this Full Moon energy does not release your creative fires, it may be time to think about another venture or course.

Saturn in Virgo: World's Cheapest Car

Saturn in Virgo is taking us down the road of time and in an economical form of transportation. Now we have an announcement of the world's most inexpensive automobile in a story from the New York Times:

By ANAND GIRIDHARADAS

MUMBAI, India — What does it take to build the world’s cheapest car?
For
Tata Motors of India, which will introduce its ultra-cheap car on Thursday, the better question was, what could it take out?

The company has kept its new vehicle under wraps, but interviews with suppliers and others involved in its construction reveal some of its cost-cutting engineering secrets — including a hollowed out steering-wheel shaft, a trunk with space for a briefcase and a rear-mounted engine not much more powerful than a high-end riding mower.

The upside is a car expected to retail for as little as the equivalent of $2,500, or about the price of the optional DVD player on the
Lexus LX 470 sport utility vehicle.

The downside is a car that would most likely fail emission and safety standards on any Western road, and, perhaps, in India in a few years, when the country imposes tougher environmental standards.

New Moon in Capricorn - January 8, 2008

What an extraordinary New Moon to start 2008! If you are ready to make the most of 2008, now is the time.

This is the best New Moon of 2008 for goal-setting, initiating projects, and making serious commitments for successful achievement.

This first New Moon of 2008 is framed by strongly supportive placements. This year the Sun and Moon in Capricorn are joined by faithful, expansive and optimistic Jupiter in Capricorn, so there is support for believing in the plans you are making. Saturn, which rules Capricorn, is in retrograde in Virgo at present, bringing both a demand for and a tendency towards detailed, careful focus and thought in all our decision-making. On this New Moon there are also two energies alongside Capricorn working to boost the effects of this New Moon, and they come from Sagittarius and Aquarius. Venus and Pluto in Sagittarius lend optimism and faith to your goals. This is because Venus Sagittarius (the heart of generosity) and Pluto in Sagittarius (transformation through growth) highlight our personal goals and their connection to the evolution and quality of the future of humankind. A line-up in progressive Aquarius empowers it even more: Mercury (progressive thinking), Chiron (awareness of wounds and healing), and Neptune (spirituality). This energy adds a visionary ability to dream and see beyond the materials as you are setting your goals. Mars in Gemini has slowed in its current retrograde motion and we are all feeling the effects of it as we find ourselves more carefully watching what we communicate and how we communicate it. Uranus in Pisces is forcing us to stay shockingly focused on the global environment and peacemaking by presenting us with the shocking news of how our consumption affects our planet Earth.

Fear:
The archetype of Capricorn is the Sea Goat, which is actually the mountain goat. Mountain goats climb steep hills with a sure steadiness and do not fall off the side of the mountain. They eventually reach the top through determination. Capricorn qualities are: big-hearted, deeply caring of others, desirous of motivating and teaching others, possessing of stamina, committed, focused, driven, courageous, hard-working, responsible, goal-oriented, a strong leader, and loyal. Capricorn is also ruled by Saturn, a planet with a strong reputation, even among those who do not know a lot about astrology.

Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, is classically associated with conservatism and fear. Yet, fear can actually be a great motivator. Capricorn is the sign which best symbolizes the ability to identify fear, overcome it, and attain success because of it, not in spite of it. Use this New Moon to acknowledge your fears, and face your fears in a positive manner. Make fear a life coach who motivates you to success.

Fortitude:
Like deceased musician James Brown was the hardest working man in show business, Capricorn is the hardest working sign in the zodiac. A realist at heart, Capricorn defines itself by being a self-sufficient and dedicated worker who keeps an eye on the goal and never wavers from it. With its ruler in detail-oriented and conscientious Virgo, this New Moon is the time when you must get real about your goals. No more empty promises of accomplishing something once you get this or that other things or future fantasies. Under this New Moon in Capricorn, focus on what you can obtain now:

  1. Brainstorm what you want to achieve, write the steps you must take to achieve it and then commit to patiently following each step no matter how hard it is and no matter how long it takes.
  2. Take the work you can get now and trust that it will be the right step in getting your dream job in the future.
  3. Work with what you have now and stop fantasizing about what you do not have but wish you did.

Finances:
Saturn, deeply connected to tradition and security, does not like to take risks. This New Moon empowers some profound intuitive internal thought about what you actually need to achieve financial success and security. We are told we cannot make a good financial living doing what we love. The truth is you will be financially secure as well as spiritually and/or creatively successful if you believe in yourself and work hard at what you love. You must be judicious about spending, and do without or do with less. We must make the sacrifices necessary to not follow the crowd.

The occurrence of Sun, Moon and Jupiter in Capricorn trine (a favorable astrological aspect) Saturn in Virgo translates into a prime opportunity for setting achievable and successful realistic financial goals and eliminating excessive spending. This is the New Moon to create a BUDGET and a commit to it. Capricorn spends conservatively, shrewdly and sometimes not at all. Do you really need the thing you are about to buy? Is it beyond your basic housing and shelter needs? How can you spend less and what do you really not need? If we are honest what ourselves, it is many things.

How can you do this? Start practicing Zen and the Art of Shopping to become conscious of your consumption of materials things. Be aware of how you are mentally and physically when you shop. Pay attention! As yourself:

  1. Do I really need this?
  2. What other ways could I use this money I am about to spend?
  3. Can I put this money away for my future instead of spending it now?

Future Growth:
This New Moon in committed Capricorn is the New Moon to dedicate yourself to becoming responsible for your emotional and spiritual growth and the enlightenment our human community on Earth. The threat of global warming is real, as is destruction through the heartless, thoughtless, arrogant warfare based on discrimination by class, race, and ethnicity. A very few constantly take from the masses so that poverty is at nearly everyone’s doorstep through uneven distribution and over-consumption We must awaken and cease these things or for humankind there will be no future.

Full Moon Rising:
The two weeks after the New Moon, the Moon waxes to a Full Moon in Leo on January 22, 2008. This means that NOW is the most advantageous time to build the energy of your intentions. Plan to start taking take action on your New Moon at the Full Moon in Leo.

Eclipses (2008-2011)

Every five and a half months, when the Sun is near one of the moon's nodes, eclipses can occur. When they occur during new moons they are solar eclipses. This is when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun and blots out the Sun. When they occur during full moons they are lunar eclipses, where the Moon is hidden by the Earth's shadow. Eclipses have bewildered, awed and frightened humankind over the centuries and are a time of critical transformation.

Eclipses are about sudden dramtic change and disruption. This is when we see change occur the fastest in our lives nad sometimes quite profoundly. For people that have become happy with the status quo, the changes can be quite overwhelming or shocking.

The best way to hadnle eclipses is to expect the unexpected, expect losses of poeple or situations and be ready to acccept the gifts that come in their place. Lunar eclipses tend to herald the loss of a female from your life and solar eclipses tend to bring the loss of a male from your life. If you view these dramatic and radical changes as new opportunities, the results can be very positive.

Also, eclipses are stronger and more long lasting in their effects than normal new or full moons. Their effects can be felt at the time of the eclipse and 6-12 months afterwards. In fact if you are experiencing the eclipses in polar signs near planets in your natal chart, it will be up to 2 years before you see the full effects. For example, eclipses in Virgo-Pisces began in late 2006 people with Suns in those signs will get the full message of the eclipses by early 2008 when the last eclipse in Virgo occurs. There is one theme for you in the eclipses and that theme will play out for 2 years. You can also look back 10 years and see it is a replay of the same issues. How will you choose to handle it?

Here is hte scheudle of eclipses, their signs and degrees for the next few years:

Free Astrology Lesson: Love Signs

The sign in which Mars and Venus is located in your chart indicates the way you express your passion, your sexual style, your expression of anger and your initiative in life (Mars); it also shows what you value, how you think about and naturally handle money and most of all, the way in which you express love and affection (Venus).

Remember, these are all potentials and can be affected by aspects to these planet-in-sign signatures, as well as current transits!

Mars Signs

Mars in Aries

Some like it HOT, HOT, HOT!!! The Roman god Mars and the Greek god Ares are associated with lust, passion, drive, with masculinity, courage, assertiveness, willpower, bloodthirsty behavior, and initiative, and anger. In astrology, Mars functions as the way in which you express your passion and drive, your feelings of sexual attraction, what and how you are sexually attracted to and how you pursue what you desire. Because Mars rules Aries, this is a powerful placement. Here is a person with a lot of drive, initiative, independence, high energy, courage and impulsiveness. However, this is not a strong indicator of stamina. Initial enthusiasm could ebb away if the object of desire resists for a very long time.

The challenge of winning what seems to be unattainable is a thrill for Mars in Aries, but a long standoff may make things seem less appealing. Starting new projects is a forte but finishing them is not. Therefore you should have people to whom things can be delegated so you can move onto the next big idea. You can lead a team but you are not a good team player/team member. If you are honest with yourself you will admit that you want things YOUR way and you will battle for what you want.

You ARE competitive in the bedroom and the boardroom. You are very likely to find it sexy to fight with your mate as part of lovemaking. This is the most courageous and enterprising Mars position. You have a HIGH and demanding sex drive and when you want sex you want it NOW. It does not take much to get you in the mood and your lover is expected to meet your needs from the start. Try to be patient!

Some notable Mars in Aries people include: Russell Crowe, David Letterman, Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, Gloria Steinem, Tobey Maguire

Mars in Taurus

Except for when a red cape is being waved at it and it is being prodded and dared, a bull does not run. He takes his time, slowly and steadily getting to where he wants. He is so big that very few dare to get in his way or oppose him. He arrives at his destination and rest himself, enjoying some delicious food, or a good nap or some satisfying sex. That is Taurus the Bull. Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love. Thus there is emotion, balanced by Taurean practicality and logic.

Unlike Mars in Aries, Mars in this sign is not about pushing aggressively wrestling you to the floor. Mars in Taurus is about the slow burn of love. Mars in Taurus wants to take a tour of the preparations of lovemaking – all the little luxuries that can be enjoyed as part of the process. Silky sheets, delicious wine, sumptuous food, heart-warming music, those things are all part of the lovemaking. After all these preliminaries, then you get right down to it and endurance is the key. With Mars in Taurus you are a steady and dependable lover.

Mars in Taurus also indicates that the things you value are the things you pursue with a quiet passion. You like the material and physical world – comfortable surroundings, a nice home, good food, expensive clothing, investing in the stock market, making money in general, saving money and increasing your portfolio. You choose a course of action and pursue it without wavering. People can be quite surprised at your determination. Patience is a strong suit.

You may not appear to be a sex bomb, but sexual satisfaction is high on your list of priorities. You are very sensual and sexual partner who approaches sex in a straightforward manner. Staging fights, playing games, acting out fantasies, rushing and fetishes are not your style. However you may want to try to be a little creative at times and vary your approach because sex at precisely 8 o’clock every Tuesday night after dinner is apt to get boring for your partner!

Some notable Mars in Taurus people include: Ashley Judd, Courteney Cox, Tom Cruise, Lucy Lawless, Madonna Louise Ciccone, Vanna White

Mars in Gemini

Do you want a lover with good hands? Wants spice and variety in your lovemaking? Do you enjoy experimentation? If so, you want someone with Mars in Gemini.

Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the Messenger god who flies from one place to another, thinks quickly, and moves at lightning speed. Gemini people use their hands a lot and in a love relationship it comes in, er, handy. Strong Gemini energy can make one VERY adept with hands and fingers – playing guitar, playing piano, golfing, and making intricate repairs. If you have Mars in Gemini you know how to caress your lover and in general touching, caressing, patting and holding if very important, but not only that - you like to be talked to in romance and sex. Talking is your foreplay style. Mentally your mind must be stimulated for your body to join in the festivities.

Mars in Gemini is not cut out for endurance sex because most of the energy is spent mentally, so try some tai-chi, mediation or yoga to calm the mind so the body can enjoy!

You are attracted to intelligent people who can captivate your mind. Talking about fantasies, acting them out, introducing surprises and reading erotica can bring you great pleasure with a lover. Mars produces mental assertiveness and mental energies are highest here. If you are not being mentally stimulated with word and variety you lose interest and may seem erratic because you start focusing on other things.

Professionally your passions, with Mars in Gemini, can lead you into being a reporter, journalist, teacher, public relations spokesperson or critic. You could find yourself changing job frequently. You like to be thought of as intelligent. Just be careful about becoming superficial – knowing a little about a lot of things. This also applies to your sexual relationships – when younger you may find yourself flitting from one “special” person to another as you lose interest quickly. Playing too many sexual games (fetishes, role-playing etc) may frighten off a partner (“you’re weird”) so you may need to ask yourself why you are having trouble being satisfied with a generally straight-forward sex life. Take pride in your flirting abilities to a degree but beware of using people sexually as it could cause you to get a bad reputation as a player or flake and you will find yourself alone. Having no one to talk to is a nightmare for a Gemini! Get to really KNOW your partner by asking in-depth questions and talking about yourself on an equally deep level. You will find yourself quite turned on mentally and physically!

Some notable people with Mars in Gemini include: Jimmy Page, Freddie Prinze Jr., Camilla Parker Bowles, Anna Kournikova, Sandra Bullock, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, Ludwig van Beethoven, David Duchovny, Eldrick (Tiger) Tont Woods

Mars in Cancer

Do you find the thought of creating a child to be sexy? Then you may have Mars in Cancer. In this placement, the God of War meets the Cosmic Mother and she is immensely turned on at the thought that their sexual union could result in the manifestation of a child.

Emotional attachment is vital with Mars in Cancer. If you have Mars in Cancer you are attracted to someone you can nurture and who will nurture you. The sensual and sexual world is a very sensitive place for you – you feel very vulnerable. Logic and practicality are not at all strong here. Mars in Cancer intuitively picks up the vibrations of the other person and wants to merge with them. You are attracted to people who want to be mothered and they are attracted to you because they instinctively know you will mother them!

A moody and emotional person, you are quite sexual and sensual person once your partner has gotten to know you. Crying during lovemaking is quite common, whether you are female or male. The assertiveness and aggression of Mars is a bit lost here – lust is there, but it is apt to be hidden. It will not get shown until it feels SAFE. Being defensive or overly cautious can be a problem. You must learn to loosen up a bit. Unless other aspects in your chart indicate it, this is NOT the placement of a person who likes to have confrontation as part of lovemaking. If your nerves get frazzled or you have a lot to worry about your interest in sex disappears. Your mind, nerves and stomach (watch out for ulcers and digestive problems) cannot take a lot of frenetic activity before sliding between the sheets. Mars in Cancer loves domestic tranquility and security.

In a work setting people may think they can take advantage of you because you are not very assertive, may vacillate and may take on other’s responsibilities. You are an independent person who has personal and professional ambitions but you do not share them with people. That way you can take your time and approach the object of your desire without giving away your plan. Heh heh. If you begin to feel put upon, your crabbiness and withdrawal will surprise people. In professional pursuits, love, and lust, you take the circuitous route.

Some notable people with Mars in Cancer include: Keanu Reeves, Donald Sutherland, Richard Gere, Anjelica Huston, Stephen King, Cheryl Ladd, Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Mars in Leo

Leo likes living AND loving LARGE!! If you have Mars in Leo, there is a strong natural pull to fine dining, flamboyant displays of affection, dramatic gestures and a love of being the center of attention, whether giving or receiving such a spotlight. Mars in Leo is no stranger to lust and the person with this placement wants to look good and get pats on the back while displaying love in all its grandest forms. Mars in Leo likes to be both generous and appreciated for the generosity. It will result in even more pleasure being given and received.

Don't muss the hair of a Leo woman while making love - unless you make her hair look like a sexy tousled lion's mane, LOL. Leo is a playful sign and enjoys the upbeat, optimistic side of love. Sometimes a bit of passionate anger can be mixed in there, but in general Mars in Leo wants aggressive passion and a heavy touch. Get in there and do the deed! The roars and purrs of pleasure coming from the bedroom may scare others but you'll have a good time.

Silk sheets in leopard or tiger prints will be very appealing. A glamorous, elaborate bedroom is a perfect Mars in Leo setting!

Try to remember to be patient with your partner and other people in general, even thought you want to plow ahead with great force and confidence!

Notable people with Mars in Leo include: Billy Crystal, Bette Midler, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Dominique Moceanu, Robert Redford, Kenny Rogers, Cher, Ilia Kulik, Prince Felix of Denmark, Harrison Ford, Goldie Hawn, and Michael Jordan

If you do not know what your Mars sign is, order a natal report.

Mars in Virgo

Love is an emotion and sex is not something that runs on the fuel of rationality, but Mars in Virgo will certainly try to shape some rules and regulations to make it work and work right!

Virgo is a sign known for the characteristics of being methodical, rigid, concerned with minutiae, good with organization and aiming for perfection. With this placement a person is very conscientious, but perhaps lacking in imagination and lightheartedness - something crucial to a good sexual relationship. While insisting that sex can only be done after the dishes and in a certain position is not sexy, it is sexy that you desire to get it right when it comes to pleasuring your partner.

Mars, the symbol of passion, is not very passionate in Virgo. Your sex drive may be strong, but your willingness to express it can be repressed. They may be critical of their partner, trying to contain their partner's sexual expression. If you have Mars in Virgo you may also attract a perfectionist, critical partner. Sometimes this leaks out in a bit of kinky behavior. Virgo men are famous for being rigid, puritanical and nitpicky when it comes to sexual display, but behind the scenes they can be, as one client described to me, "superfreaks". They may also have quite a fascination with buttocks.

It is important, if you have Mars in Virgo, to work on being tolerant and expressive. Show some emotion, as singer Joan Armatrading implored.

Mars in Virgo people tend to take on too much work, thus using a lot of energy that could go into some lusty sex, for work purposes instead. However they are earthy people, who are open to sexual experimentation. Hmmm. There's that kinky stuff again! Who said Virgo is not a sexy sign (think Sean Connery and Sophia Loren)?!

Some notable people with Mars in Virgo include: Sarah Jessica Parker, Matt Damon, Chelsea Clinton, Ben Affleck, Cameron Diaz, George W. Bush, Nick Carter, J. C. Chasez, Johnny Depp, Gloria Estefan, Elizabeth Hurley, Brooke Shields, Kevin Spacey, Britney Spears

Mars in Libra

If you have a legal case to fight be sure to get an attorney with Mars in Libra. Combining the power and bloodthirsty aggression of Mars with Libra’s ability to reason and desire to have fairness, you will most likely win.

Mars in Libra is passive-aggressive personified. Mars wants to take action and get things done, but Libra will mellow out the impulsive nature of Mars. Where mars in Aries jumps into the fray, Mars in Libra thinks about how the end goal can be achieved without having to get one’s hands dirty. In fact Mars in Libra is adept at getting others to do the dirty work, deal with the confrontations and handle the unpleasant task while procrastinating about making a decision. The Mars in Libra person can even look quite surprised if you challenge them regarding their role in a situation. “Who, me?” they will say, not wanting to seem aggressive, cutthroat, or unfair. With the most pleasant of words they seek compromise when they know they cannot win.

Sexually, Mars in Libra people are aggressive about pleasing their partners and being pleased in return (everything must be reciprocal in the world of Libra). They can be rather picky and fastidious, but they will literally charm the pants of you and make it worth your while!

Some notable people with Mars in Libra include: Robert Plant, William Jefferson Clinton, Angela Lansbury, Eminem, Sarah Ferguson, Brendan Frasier, Whitney Houston, Nicole Kidman, John Lennon, Heather Locklear, Prince William of Great Britain, Sinead O'Connor

Mars in Scorpio

Depth, intensity, power, control, privacy. These words are key to understanding how a person with Mars in Scorpio approaches relationships and sex. They may make up rules and regulations, and use sex as a weapon in order to gain they desire from the other person – absolute enthrallment. In their complex approached to sexuality and relationships they can be likely to want their lover to do anything and everything – including things that would make many walk away and close the door forever. This is after they make their lover wait for what may seem an endless period of time while they demonstrate their power and self-control by being unavailable and abstaining for long periods of time, giving in only when they feel their partner is deserving. It is not unusual for the partner of a Mars in Scorpio person to find they must beg for sex.

Some notable Mars in Scorpio people include: Billy Bragg, Mel Gibson, Jennifer Aniston, Prince Nicolai of Denmark, John Goodman, Shere Hite, Susan Sarandon, Howard Stern, Oprah Winfrey

Mars in Sagittarius

The phrase “anger management” comes to mind when Mars in Sagittarius surfaces. Between the spontaneous and combustible nature of the Centaur and the warrior stance of Mars, you could have a rather kinky and wild sexual ride with a Mars in Sagittarius person.

These people like their freedom, have little patience for getting into serious details and like to experiment with the outer edges of the sexual envelope. People with Mars in Sagittarius generally start things but do not finish them – and that can include relationships. They have an idealistic stance, and great vision, but they sabotage their dreams by putting their verbal foot in their mouth or taking actions that intimidate others. Many times they simply trash things and people and move onto the next “project. Of course environment plays a role here.

These folks love the outdoors, including sports that involve bloodletting – hunting for example. They enjoy being in the forest, like the mythical Pan. They have a blunt, direct, yet passionate approach in bed. Remember when Great Britain’s Prince Charles, while married to Princess Diana, was audio-taped while telling his married mistress Camilla Parker Bowles that he wished to be reincarnated as a tampon so that he might always be in her knickers? Prince Charles has natal Mars in Sagittarius. Want to try a new position? They are up for it – literally. They like playing games in bed, including roughhousing. The only things is, don’t think you are getting out of that bed without them getting their ultimate satisfaction! In or out of bed, if they feel you are infringing on their freedom, they will cut you down and turn you off in a split second. They may even run away, but they will always return, as Sagittarian energy is mutable.

Some notable people with Mars in Sagittarius include: Ellen DeGeneres, Steffi Graf, Dick Clark , Rene Zellweger, Avril Lavigne, Prince Charles, Meg Ryan, Christian Slater, Mark Twain

Mars in Capricorn

Private and powerful. This is Mars in Capricorn in general and when it comes to personal and sexual relationships. Here is where you see a person with a determined, yet subdued drive that slowly, steadily makes its way to its destination.

Those with Mars in Capricorn do not give away the details of their sex lives, but rest assured theit partner is never lacking. With a quiet confidence Capricorn always finishes what it starts – or what you start. So if you are not sure you want to make love tonight, do not begin the foreplay. The Mars in Capricorn person does not like sexual head games.

Someone who has Mars in Capricorn in the 2nd house of earned income, self-esteem and values typically achieves high financial goals although you may never know the extent of the wealth they have attained. They powerfully attain what they desire and they rarely feel the need to boast about their conquests.

Mars is the sign of the Warrior and Capricorn is cardinal (leader) energy so Mars in Capricorn natives are ambitious and prefer being on top of things – heh heh, literally. They are masters at self-restraint - and it shows in their sexuality, drive, career and expression of anger. As an Earth sign like Taurus and Virgo, Capricorn likes the pleasures of the flesh. Once the light is green they want to revel and roll in it, squeeze it tightly, immerse themselves deeply in it, and shake the earth with its orgasmic succulence. Like Chaka Khan sang, once you get started…oh its hard to stop…you just can’t stop.

And, lest, you think this is purely selfish, it is not. Mars in Capricorn people get immense pleasure from seeing their partner reach orgasm. A goal achieved is always rewarding when there is Capricorn energy involved. Mars in Capricorn people truly care about their partners (the energy of polar sign Cancer coming through!). They feel obligated to make sure both they and their partner have a good, satisfying time.

Mars in Aquarius

The telephone and the Internet are two inventions that have lifted sex to new heights for those with Sun, Venus or Mars in Aquarius. With either, you need not be in each other’s physical presence to have sex. Sex begins in the head with Mars in Aquarius people. Mars in Aquarius people enjoy this – because sex, potential sex or quasi-sex can take place with the mind. Fiery Mars in an Air sign indicates that talking, thinking and fantasizing about sex is a great turn-on. Mars in the sign of the Rebel indicates that these are men and women who stubbornly want to take the path less traveled when it comes to sexuality and relationships. It can also be dangerous because for the person with this placement, sex between a married and an unmarried person via telephone or computer is “safe” and not limited by any moral boundary.

Simply the idea of having sex is a thrill. Phone sex, cyber sex, cyber chat, and secret sexual activities not involving intercourse and that do not dissolve marriages, can be particularly seductive. The Mars in Aquarius person wants to spend time sharing fantasies – verbally, that is. They want to talk about sex, make innuendo about sex, and if the other person involved is on the geeky, oddball, offbeat or “different” side, all the better. They like the person who doesn’t quite fit the common mold – either is eccentric, looks different, dresses differently, or has an unusual career or lifestyle.

Insistent on getting their way, the Mars in Aquarius person will stand their ground and refuse to do anything other than what they want to do in a sexual relationship. They want to be in control. They will detach emotionally and in a clever and friendly manner dominate their partner.

Some notable people with Mars in Aquarius: Justin Timberlake, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Christopher Walken, Alec Baldwin

Mars in Pisces

Knowing what they wants and actually putting forth the energy to get it is challenging for the person with Mars in Pisces. This person is confusing to their lover because s/he floats all over the place getting to the goal – and that floating can take many stagnant and addictive forms: sex, drugs, alcohol, pathological lying or having sexual affairs.

The use of subtlety to achieve what s/he wants in a relationship is a forte of the person with Mars in Pisces. This person is not above head games. At the same time they can be especially susceptible to getting involved with those who use the same type of tactics.

If you want a partner who will do anything sexually, you can find it in a person with Mars in Pisces. Even if it is not exactly what they want, they will “serve” you by doing what you want sexually…with the covert end goal of eventually getting what they desire. Oh, can this person make you feel tremendously guilty if you later refuse them their wishes and they point out how they did this, that and THAT other thing for you. Like a chameleon, the Mars in Pisces person will change attitudes and actions to suit the moment, to elicit an answer, and to get what they want. Sometimes they are shy and romantic; at other times they are picayune and insistent on creating the perfect moment in the perfect relationship and they will stop at nothing to attain it. Carrying a lot of love and compassion within themselves, they may even take on a relationship where they are nursemaid to someone they perceive needs their ministrations for healing purposes. They can pay a price though, for this submerging of their selves. To deal with the pain of accommodating other’s wishes and disguising their aims, they may resort of abusing alcohol or drugs, lying, and/or having sexual affairs. By doing so they can figuratively wear rose-colored glasses and make the world look fine. However they can also drown in their oceanic fantasy land.

On the flip side, they actually can demonstrate so much love and care with you if they are your partner that you will feel truly merged and known, down to your soul. Encourage them to get into acting, singing, dancing, painting etc or some form of humanitarian or charity work and they will be better able to balance out the competitive fire of Mars and the mutable water of Pisces.

Some notable people with Mars in Pisces: Bono, Billy Crystal, Tom Hanks, Elton John, John Steinbeck, Rob Reiner, Vincent van Gogh, Sarah Michelle Geller, Moliere, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Annie Lennox

Venus Signs

Venus in Aries

Venus in Aries is the most impulsive of all the Venus signs! Sexual or romantic relationships are begun in the blink of an eye - but they can be finished just as quickly too.

Aries is a sign embodying naiveté, and idealism. This is the approach of the person with Venus in Aries. They are blunt, demand attention and want it without frills. Romancing someone to get sex is not exactly their cup of tea. It also means they can fail to see that someone wants to use them for their own means. They may think they are getting a relationship when they are getting a person who wants only a one night stand. With its impatient and independent nature, Venus in Aries can overlook the warning signs and leap into something that may last a night, two weeks or maybe a few months before fizzling out. Meanwhile the Venus in Aries person will have given their heart, their love, their all. It can be fun to be with a person with Venus in Aries if you are able to be very independent and take things as they come without an expectation from the start of having along-term or permanent relationship.

By the same measure, if you are seeking something purely physical and you both agree to those terms, such as the modern-day “friend with benefits” type of relationship, a person with Venus in Aries can be a perfect partner. Remember Libra is Aries polar sign and if this person chooses to let that charming and diplomatic energy surface, this could be a very good thing! If you have an intellectual rapport, it could potentially be a very satisfying “agreement” or relationship as it were: good conversation, perhaps a nice meal or relaxing cup of tea/coffee and some fiery sexual consummation.

There is also a tendency here to want to sample relationships, because in past lives this person has been in monogamous relationships or celibacy. Her pride will be wounded and she will leave you quickly and as cold as ice, with her head held high as she walks out the door. Venus in Virgo

The person with Venus in Virgo can be challenging! They can either seem like they do not want anything to do with love, or be very focused on constant self-improvement in the relationship. Translation: too critical of not only themselves, but their partner.

Virgo is a sign that seeks the best in all things - which gets labeled as perfection. Their demands of themselves, other people and situations can seem or can be impossible to meet. They express love and affection for the people and things they value in an introverted manner. As introverted as it may be, Virgo wants to be in charge and will nitpick if things are not like they want in a relationship. Demanding the best of themselves, they also think it is appropriate to demand it of their partner. Often they simply are not sure WHY their partner loves them or wants them. They can make loving them a very cold experience.

When the Venus in Virgo person wants you to draw close, they will turn on their own special brand of charm that says life would be greatly improved if the two of you were a couple. They may be witty, articulate, creative, clean/fastidious and attentive to your needs.

But the shadow side of Venus in Virgo comes from the karmic fear of being stuck in a dead-end, intellectually oppressive, stunted relationship. Their past lives involved being trapped in a hopeless marriage that killed their spirit. Things were stagnant, conversations were non-existent, and growth was impossible. In this lifetime they fear getting married and sitting in front of the television set every night after dinner for decades. They would rather stay single. It may take a long time to get this person to the altar, if you can manage it at all!

If you do succeed, however, this is a person who will be willing to support you in what you need to do on your individual path and will expect the same from you.

There may be a slight edge to her as she challenges you on some subjects, but it is always wrapped in a light and gentle teasing. While they have the gift of being able to achieve deep psychological transformation, it is not unusual for a Scorpio to come to that point through some DEEPLY serious drug and/or alcohol use/abuse or sexual experimentation. Saturn in Virgo: Danish Male Priests Believe Women are Tainted

Research done by a major Danish newspaper reveals that a significant number of female priests in the state church (Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church) are harassed by their male colleagues. But worse than that, the research reveals that there are Danish male priests who actually believe women will TAINT them with their touch and make them unholy! Keep in mind the time we are in: Saturn (restrictions, oppression) in Virgo (women, women's issues).

According Denmark's "Politiken" newspaper, more than half of female priests have experienced gender discrimination. Almost 60 per cent of the country's female priests have been told by their male counterparts they were not fit to wear the clerical collar because of their gender. The women priests had met with this form of criticism several times throughout their career. The study found that only a small group of up to 15 per cent of male priests discriminated against female clergy. However, they were a vocal minority. Some male candidates for the Danish priesthood refused to be touched by female priests during ordination, believing them to be tainted.

These are young Danish men (20s and 30s) with this belief, which hails back to Tertullian, a mysogynist early bishop of the Roman Catholic Church. He decreed that men should not have sexual contact with women because women contain a tainting fluid with them and when a man's penis came into contact with it through sex, they would be made unholy.

As long as discrimination exists in the Church it will exist in secular society.

Wonder what the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church will do to combat this baseless, false theology in the seminaries and churches in Denmark?

Interesting note...although people are automatically registered as members of the state church in Denmark. memebrship has declined so severely that hunderds of church were closed in the last couple of years and more will probably close due to lack of attendance. The Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church ahs become irrelvant for many people, expecially the under 50 crowd, in Denmark.
